SUNDAY SOUL: I have no idea why Egbert Nathaniel Dawkins III felt the need to take on the stage name Aloe Blacc (ok, maybe I do), but he’s certainly had some significant success over the last five years or so. Here’s a soulful tune from his 2013 album Lift Your Spirit called The Man.
I was wondering why I kept thinking of Elton John’s Your Song when Blacc sings the line ‘You can tell everybody’, when I noticed this song credits Elton John and Bernie Taupin for exactly that reason.
