TWISTED TUESDAY: This 1985 song is from Australian duo Vitabeats. It’s an interestig song and clip, and if like me you’re interested in who the Vita Beats were and what they’re doing now, read on below.
And now a potted history from Vitabeats co-founder Andrew Barnum:
Vitabeats were an indie duo back in the 80s. We were signed to Hot Records distributed by EMI. Our indie dance hit ‘Boom Box’ was the first aussie dance crossover that first broke in Adelaide on SAFM then tripleJ. Absolutely 100% Aussie and never ‘advertising types’ but graphic designers. We appeared on countdown (where molly said we were from brisbane…) and toured in sydney. we were on the cusp of the move from vinyl to cd so no cd was ever released. the album spot the spanner is available for download through itunes australia. Both Lissa and I are married in Sydney. Lissa is a designer, design educator and painter (she lectures at both UTS and Billy Blue) and Andrew has produced 4 indie solo albums (‘southerly’compilation available through itunes australia) and is the Head of College at Billy Blue College of Design in Sydney and Brisbane. He is about to release a double cd/book of original songs featuring 25 illustrators entitled ‘feed the clouds’. Always nice to set the record straight. Cheers
